A Public Statement
Impact(Ed) mourns the tragic and unjust loss of black lives across America. We stand in solidarity against individual, systemic and institutional racism, and against political and economic injustice. We stand for equal justice under law and we affirm – along with others across the US and around the world – that Black lives matter.
We are an international non-governmental organization working with marginalized communities to improve education because we know this is essential to ending poverty and inequality. We are committed to building an organizational culture that listens, learns and takes real action in the face of injustices seeded in a history of oppression and racism, and magnified during this pandemic.
We remember and reflect on the words of Nelson Mandela who said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. The power of education extends beyond the development of skills we need for economic success. It can contribute to nation-building and reconciliation.”
