Twenty-two years ago, Discovery Communications launched the nonprofit, Discovery Learning Alliance, to use the power of media to transform education and improve lives in marginalized communities around the world.
Together with teachers and local communities we have brought learning to life, and improved learning outcomes and life skills for over 2 million students in 16 countries. Our mass media projects, including the two most-watched films ever in Africa, have been broadcast to over 822 million people -- changing attitudes and behaviors to advance public health, ensure girls stay in school, promote gender equality, and help young people advocate for themselves.
As we continue this work, we are changing our name to Impact(Ed) International. Our new name creates new opportunities for partnerships across the public and private sectors, including other media companies. We have and will continue to be driven by results rather than good intentions, and this name testifies to our focus on impact.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support in this vital work.
Education changes everything!
